My Students

The third and fourth graders in our multiage classroom represent such backgrounds as new immigrants, first generation immigrants, those whose families have been here for generations, and a large academic range. They are hard working students who love learning. Frequently, when a new learning target is introduced, their hands go up in the silent applause sign! Recently, one student said of another who was really focused, "he's really takes learning seriously. I've noticed that about him." This shows one of the best qualities of our children, the encouragement they give each other.

My Project

We bring our large group of students to the rug for lessons and group conversations so they can be closer and more engaged. Sitting on the floor can be hard for some students who end up slumped, or laying down during learning times. Sitting on yoga blocks would help our students to keep good posture and stay more comfortable during floor learning times, while also not taking up too much space or being distracting in the room.

Some students lack the strength to sit without a chair or something to lean on- having a yoga block would help them develop core strength to do this.
