Engage, Support, and Grow! Middle School Students Want to Read!
My students need Scholastic Action magazines because the magazines focus on reading intervention. The students we'll be servicing are 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who have challenges in ELA. Utilizing an engaging magazine will help!
Our charter school (K-12) opened in the Fall of 2016. We are incredibly thankful and excited to have an opportunity to impact so many students in Clark County. Our campus is the fourth and newest campus to be opened in Henderson, Nevada. Although we are a state-funded, public charter school, we need to do a lot with the little that we get. The amazing thing is that we find a way, and manage to truly prepare our students for college and career. With that being said, let's talk about our students.
1,500 dynamic and diverse students from the Las Vegas, Anthem, Henderson, and Summerlin areas are educated by our staff.
With that being said, we have a variety of students coming from diverse family makeups and circumstances. We are fortunate to have great parent engagement, teacher engagement, and administrative support. However, we are in need of so much since we are a newer school. Anything and everything donated will help all of our students K-12. Thank you so much!
My Project
High interest, lower readability text is one way we can engage our middle school students who have challenges in ELA. By using a variety of sound instructional strategies and resources, we are working on growing our students as readers. Utilizing the magazines will help our students improve their reading comprehension, annotation skills, and boost their confidence when it comes to citing text evidence.
The Action magazines will be extremely helpful and engaging because they focus on topics that our students are interested in.
Working with other students on reading and answering comprehension questions will help our students want to read and succeed!
