This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school serves students in grades ETK-6. We are a Title I school from the inner-city public school and 100% of our students are on the federal free meal plan. Most of our students usually get dropped off and arrive at school at 7:30 AM and continue to stay at school until 6:00 PM. Our school is their home away from home
I work with energetic and motivated second graders who are eager to learn.
I would love to have the opportunity to create an environment that empowers all my students to reach their full potential as scholars and citizens of the 21st century.
My Project
With your generous support, my students will be able to engage in daily science with grade-level appropriate daily science journals and hands-on science to increase understanding scientific investigation while having fun.

My Project
Recently I had the privilege of attending professional development on An Introduction To NGSS: Elementary Science on how to use science notebooks in grades K-2. From this Professional Development, I learned the importance of incorporating a scientist's notebook with its detailed recording keeping with his/her engagement of scientific phenomena. The daily use of a science notebook has valuable benefits to my classroom practice. The Daily Science Journals that I request for my students will significantly help all my students, especially my English learners because of the visual representations that illustrate, vocabulary that clarifies concepts, and questions for students to ponder and think deeply about are being reinforced all science concepts for the entire school year. Since we use Foss and the 5 E's model of teaching, the journals will engage and enhance student authentic learning, and my students will bring their daily science journal home to share their discovery of the scientific phenomena with their family.
