Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are extremely eager about learning. They come to school every day with smiles on their faces, joy in their hearts, and energy to last us all day. My students consistently give their best effort despite circumstances at home. We are located just outside of Boston; a small city that is rapidly increasing in population. Our school district is home to over 7,200 students from grades K-12. The entire district provides free breakfast and lunch for every student.
My little brains have lived through a lot in their little lives; multiple of my students have walked through divorce, homelessness, hunger, poverty, illness, death, and horrific tragedy for such precious little ones.
We are a team in third grade and these children motivate me just as much as I try to motivate them.
My Project
I am requesting three sets of multiplication flash cards. With a class of 20 students, three sets would allow students to work in pairs or small groups to continuously test each other on their multiplication facts. Multiplication is a key component to the third grade curriculum and students need all the help they can get to master it.
Giving low income students access to flexible seating is an investment to their future.
My students will be eager to participate and engage in class work and discussions because they are free to wiggle and bounce in their new chairs. For a classroom with a large number of students diagnosed with ADHD, these chairs will create a world of possibilities for my students.
