Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work at a Title 1 low-income school where a lot of our students struggle to have the basic life necessities, let alone school supplies. I have requested not only regular school supplies but also classroom prizes for students who show up to class and engage in their learning. In my classroom we try and make learning fun so that students who are not motivated by grades still participate in class. My goal for this project is to take the stress of having to get things like colored pencils and folders off of the students so they can focus on their education. I believe in the work hard play hard motto so each Friday those students who have completed their work and learned the material can be rewarded with little trinkets like the ones I have put in this project as well as games to play and bond with one another. Even little things like this go a long way in a child's happiness and self-worth.
