This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kids are bright young men and women who are interested in the world around them. We are a career and technical education school that focus on teaching design skills to our students.

My kids face many challenges in their everyday lives.

Many lives in unsafe neighborhoods and travel over 1 hour to attend school in a safer neighborhood. More than 70 percent of my kids qualified for free lunch. Despite their challenges, my kids continue to learn and create beautiful works as they work toward a better future for themselves.

My Project

Most of my students come from far away in other borough in order to take advantage of our unique school program. We are an Career and Technical Education School that is dedicated in training our students a skill that they can utilize immediately out from high school.

Since most of my students travel over 1 hour to get to school, many of my students leave for school early.

With many not having a chance to eat a good solid breakfast before leaving.

In addition, many of my kids stay after school in order to participate in programs that will help them make progress toward a better future. Many of my kids live in rough and unsafe neighborhoods. As a result, many stay because our school provides them with a safe environment where they can complete their homework especially since many of their parent will still be at work.

Given that many do not not have money to buy snacks when they stay late, many of them go hungry until they can get home late at night.
