My Students

With rising oil prices, water and air pollution and an energy crises at hand, what will you do to make a difference? Knowledge is power, and we must empower our young students so that they have a future for themselves and their families in which to live because Energy is a terrible thing to waste.

I have a class of 18 curious students, each coming from a different background with a personality larger than life.

Our school is located in a very low-income area which is why we are a Title I school. This means that all my students are on free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. The students in my class have limited access to resources outside of our school as they cannot afford them. Most of them have not even been outside of their neighborhood. These students see violence and gang-related activities as a part of their daily lives.

My Project

It is unfortunate, but true, that we are but one of many schools in which science is put on the back burner to other subjects. If we do not teach our students how energy works and where we get it, their future (and that of their families) is grim. I am requesting several books on different types of energy, along with supporting activities. My students love to read, and we need books that go along with what is being experienced in the classroom. The hands-on activities put the student in real-life situations as to how to apply their knowledge of alternative energy sources. By experiencing how different energies work and why, the students will be able to make personal connections to these ideas and possibilities. This is crucial for my many hands-on learners!

Planet Earth is currently the only known planet to sustain life as we know it.

It is important that our students know how to keep it alive. Your generous donations will change the lives of my students curious minds. And, your donations will build upon their science skills and help create a brighter future for all of us.
