My Students
Remember when you learned your letters using the letter people. Students learn best when they have fun and engaging materials.
My students absolutely love learning.
It may only be the beginning of the year, but they are excited to learn all they can about letters, numbers, and more. The problem is that we are in a low income school with a large percentage of free and reduced lunch making us a title one school. This on top of more budget cuts has really cut into buying materials for the classroom. As it is our school is struggling to buy more math books so all the students in every grade may have one. Purchasing engaging centers that will keep kindergartners learning and interacting appropriately during center time is just not possible.
My Project
Right now our centers are old and starting to fall apart. However, with your help I can bring in more developmentally appropriate centers that have the students use their bodies and colorful illustrations to keep children engaged in their centers. The magnetic alphabet fishing set will allow students to work on fine motor skills, letter and sound identification, as well as keep them engaged in a fun but meaningful way. The I can spell activity mat will allow students to work on their phonic skills while using their gross motor skills.
Students are often found saying how boring school is, especially in the younger grades where play is being removed from the curriculum even though this is how they learn best.
