Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students attend a Title I school in Pennsylvania and all receive free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast. They attend a typical inner-city school. Most face serious obstacles before they even walk through​ the doors in the morning. Our goal is to make our school a safe and loving environment.

Our students come from diverse backgrounds and different countries.

This makes our school pretty special in so many ways. The students all work so hard and are very deserving of this project.

My Project

My students are the most amazing inner city kids. So many of them have dealt with so many things before they even walk in my classroom. My goal is that I want my room to be the place they can forget all that and focus on their learning. Sometimes the simplest thing like a mint or a bag of chips can be the thing that curbs their hunger and gets them focused. Items in my room like granola and cookies can make all he difference for a hungry child. I do my best to keep bins stocked so they can grab a water or a snack and get back to their learning.
