Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my 12th year teaching at my elementary school in Corona, CA. We are a TK-6th grade, Title I school serving low-income students learning English as a second language. Our staff members devote themselves every day to giving the best education we can with the resources we are given to these amazing children.
These kids are special to me because they work so hard to be the best they can be.
I want to make their learning environment as comfortable and enriching as I possibly can. They are our future!
My Project
I am asking for these materials to begin a Glasses Club in my classroom. I want to set up an area of the room for my students who wear glasses to come in and clean their lenses with the microfiber cloth and spray at the start of each school day. Most students do not have the resources to properly care for their glasses. Many students are also embarrassed to wear their glasses for fear of being called names.
I want to promote a more positive experience in making the club seem special and important to help boost their self-confidence and encourage them to wear their glasses.
The repair kit will allow me to fix glasses on the spot when their is a mishap. It offers extra screws, for example, to put glasses together. Many students will go weeks and sometimes even months before fixing their glasses, even when it comes to minor repairs such as loose or missing screws.
