This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Overcoming obstacles together is what we do. The majority of my scholars in this particular class and I are working on our fourth year together, and honestly they've taught me more than I've taught them. Watching them grow into leaders and young adults ready to change the world has been one of the greatest gifts one could ever ask for.
My kids are extraordinary, pushing past the barriers others have set before them with grace, dignity, and love in their hearts.
We are a dropout prevention school, so saying it has been easy all the time wouldn't be the truth, however, we have done it together.
My Project
This particular group of students has a deep love of Science fiction, and specifically asked to do a book study comparing and contrasting Ender's Game and Ready Player One. Both novels have similar themes and discuss the flaws in humanity that allow for the situations happening in both novels to occur. In addition to examining the novels themselves, they will have the opportunity to analyze how the authors treat the novels versus how film makers treat the content of the same novels. It is our goal to improve our critical thinking skills, our writing skills, and our ability to critically discuss opposing points of view.
