Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 3rd grade students just finished book 1 from the Stella Diaz series. They absolutely loved it! They were able to relate to the main character Stella. Stella is struggling between 2 languages and 2 cultures. Something many of my students are dealing with. They were able to see how Stella dealt with many issues similar to their very own. We read the chapters, had sophisticated discussions, and kept journals. I would love for my students to be able to take home colored pencils and fish stickers. Why? Stella loves fish and loves to draw. In the book, Stella's mom bought her professional colored pencils and Stella loved to draw all kinds of sea animals for her classroom project.

I would love for my students to have their own professional colored pencils just like Stella and fish stickers to decorate their journals as part of their end of the year gift to go with the new book.
