My Project
I teach 100 6th grade students in a Title I school. We are considered a high poverty area but our students are rich in drive and determination. As we wrap up the end of the year, we are in need of pencils, highlighters, and markers to finish the year strong. We have a lot of end of year testing, where I like to give my students peppermints and gum to help them focus and keep them alert during the hours of testing. I also do a party and give incentives for those students who have shown growth, these items will be used to assist in these efforts. To keep students engaged I do regular projects where we laminate handmade posters, and use art materials to create frayer models to help us review vocabulary. It's also that time of year, where many students are dealing with colds and allergies so we like to regularly sanitize and clean the desks and headphones with lysol wipes and spray.
