My Project

I teach 8th graders social studies which includes a personal finance unit. I teach a year long economics unit where students have a job, get paid, pay for their chair and utilities by writing checks and balancing their checkbook. Students learn to budget their money and at the end of the month we hold an auction with their extra money.

My students are a hoot, they are so much fun.

They try to find loopholes in finance just to find out that money doesn't work that way. At the end of the year I like to get students the big things they ask for. Basketballs, soccer balls and stuffed animals are in high in demand and in cost, so if you help I can get the students what they want and it makes it so much more fun.

This economic unit is a great life skill that everyone needs.
