My Students

Many of the students in my classroom have experienced trauma in their lives, and school is their safe place. They come to school to escape what is happening at home. My classroom serves students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, and specific learning disabilities.

The typical student in my class struggles with basic phonemic awareness and letter recognition.

About 90% of my students are African American or Latino. The opportunity and achievement gaps are apparent among our student population.

My Project

I am asking for some things to close out our school year. We would like to have a special carnival in celebration of all that we have learned. My hope is that with these fun activities, I can have a special day set aside for my kindergarteners that will show them how much I appreciate their hard work over the past year. We are going to have pizza, cake and water ice, and I wanted my students to have some special outside activities to enjoy before they become first graders.

I am asking for chalk, bubbles and other outside play things to make our carnival day special.

Having these outside activities, will make our carnival day a special on to end a fabulous school year!
