My Students
Our Middle School in Haltom City, Texas is a Title I school. A majority of families are lower-income. That being said, my 21 on-level and 57 Pre-AP students are incredibly talented, curious, and excited to learn! Each class has a completely different feel, and I am beyond thrilled to teach these amazing students.
This is my first year teaching.
This school and these students have WELCOMED me with open arms! These students very rarely have behavioral issues, and really have a desire to read and to learn.
HMS Tigers have GRIT!
My Project
I am a first year teacher, and as a group, the sixth grade English department decided City of Ember is our next major classroom read for the last six weeks. I would love for my students to be able to participate in reading this adventure of the mind! These books would benefit 78 sixth grade students at Haltom Middle School. Our school is a Title I school, meaning a majority of families are lower income families. We do not have enough classroom sets for all of our sixth grade teachers. My students would be thrilled to be able to read another classroom novel. They are begging to read another awesome book like The Watsons Go to Birmingham!
