My Students

Our preschool classroom serves 16 children ages 3-5, mostly dominated by girls. Being a Head Start Extended Day classroom, the children and families who receive our services are required to either be in school or working and are living in poverty. To help the financial burden of the people we serve, our classroom offers high quality education at no cost to the families.

Our students love to get their hands on stimulating materials that are geared towards their current interests in the classroom any chance they get.

Our goal is to ensure that our students are kindergarten ready and have a variety of skills under their belts such as imaginative thinking and problem solving. We enjoy having a desktop computer where students have to manipulate a mouse, as it promotes social skills, hand-eye coordination, fine motor, and taking turns. We are ready to take our learning to the next level.

My Project

At the beginning of the school year we observed a noticeable deficit in fine motor and problem solving skills among the children. By having useful technology at our fingertips, this iPad will provide our students with a variety of ways to learn and explore new things while having fun in school.

Having an iPad will encourage problem solving skills and imaginative thinking while fine motor and problem solving skills are put to work.

We plan to install interactive two player games to incorporate letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and new sights and sounds for the children to explore and come back wanting more. We are also encouraging the kids to look up things they are interested in or learning about, so this will be a fantastic way to have learning and discovering new things right at our fingertips. Our goal is to see the students' interests and passions explode through the acquisition of new technology and more developed fine motor, creative thinking, and problem solving skills.
