This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are intelligent, highly motivated, and have goals of being scientists and engineers like many of their parents.
Our school is located near the Silicon Valley, so math and science is very important to our parents and students.
The use of technology is second nature to most of my students. Whenever I give an assignment or writing project, they automatically run to the computer to type up their work or use their google account to save work or share projects with friends. Using computers is a way of life for my students.
My Project
My students love using the Chromebooks in the classroom to write their essays or work on group projects. They do research and edit each other's work before submitting assignments to me through Google classroom. There are a few carts of class sets of Chromebooks around the school, but many times they are being used by other classes. It is only possible to schedule them once a week to be fair to all students, and that gets disrupted when it is time for State or District benchmark tests.
It would be great to have my own class set so access could be continuous for my students.
I currently have 5 and would like to add an additional one so that each of my 6 groups could have their own Chromebook. It would be easier to manage their use and each group could be responsible for maintaining the Chromebooks to keep them in a good working condition.
