This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
During our creative writing unit, my students work on developing their writing skills through responding to journal prompts and creating their own works of poetry and narratives. By providing journals for them, this will decrease the financial stressors for my students who cannot afford to purchase their classroom materials. Through this project, I hope to create a space where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts on paper, and building a community where they can share their work with their peers.
My students are a group of dedicated students who work hard not only to make their parents and families proud, but to also take pride in their own work and growth.
A majority of my students are first-generation students who are working to become the first in their families to attend college, but also the first in their families to graduate from high school.
