This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am extremely lucky to teach amazing students on my campus. I teach in a Title I school where a large percentage of our students are economically disadvantaged. My students come from all over the city and bring an abundance of cultures and customs to our building and my classroom. These students are excited about learning and working hard. Each student's unique personality contributes to the family we have become in our classroom.
In my class, I am in need of motivational reminders that will show these students that they have the potential to soar when they discover their self determination.
I teach the "middle of the road" students how to become prepared for high school and college. Beyond learning academic content, students in our society today need to learn to trust their instinct and abilities to accomplish whatever they desire in their future. It is amazing how a stamp on the top of a paper can boost their confidence. The smile that comes to their face when given a sticker for recognition. The pride they show when they receive a personalize note highlighting something positive they did or a note of encouragement. It is the little things that leave an imprint on them that stays for a while.
