My students need a variety of "just right" books that are necessary for their reading levels.

My Students
In today's classroom, students no longer use standard textbooks of the past that are "one size fits all" but rather leveled books that are "just right" for the student. Each student picks books from the classroom library to read for both pleasure as well as for classroom and homework assignments.
I teach the fourth and fifth grades at an urban neighborhood elementary school.
Between the three classes that rotate through the day, I teach approximately eighty students that come from a diverse socio-economic and academic background. My students are bright, inquisitive and have an adventurous curiosity for learning. In our classroom of fourth and fifth graders, we need books of fiction and non-fiction ranging from level Q to level W. It is important that there is an adequate resource of books for the students to choose from that are both exciting and at a comfortable reading level.
My Project
Reading transcends through every subject, not just Literature or Language Arts. Having a "just right" book available creates confidence in reading and enables the student to advance confidently all around. The student develops a lifelong love of reading, a skill needed forever in our everyday lives.
We need your help to reinforce a well rounded literary learning center in our classroom.
You can make a difference for our caring community by helping the students strengthen their reading skills through "just right" books.
