Help me give my students the chance to experience the same opportunities general education students have. These adaptive equipment Band Jams, switches, musical beads, and music machines will give them the chance to do so!
Music therapy is an evidence-based practice by a board certified music therapist that can address a variety of non-musical goals for a variety of populations. My students range in age from 3-22 and have varying diagnoses. Many of my students are non-verbal and require significant supports to be successful in their everyday lives.
In music therapy, my students are able to get specialized instruction addressing their academic, social, physical, communication, and emotional goals.
Music is able to reach so many individuals in so many ways; it has been shown to be incredibly effective in the special education population!
Our sessions can range anywhere from one-on-one instruction to small group to large group instruction. We use a variety of instruments and musical mediums to work on our goals and have so much fun in the process!
My Project
Some of my students want the experience of participating in a Band or Choir, but maybe they have physical limitations that prevent them from doing so. This equipment will allow my students across the district to be given opportunities to be with their general education peers in the fine arts elective of their choosing.
Button switches will allow even the slightest hand, foot, or head movement to active an attached device to create musical experiences.
How awesome is that?!
Please help me give the students who might not have the opportunity to experience high school Band or high school Choir the chance to know what that camaraderie and family is like.
