I teach all subject areas to second grade students. A cluster of my students are working to learn English. Nearly 10% of the students in my school building are English Language Learners. Believe it or not, these students come from over 23 different countries!
At my school, nearly 40% of our students are economically disadvantaged.
Many of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, and together we create a wonderful second grade family!
My Project
I would be one happy teacher if I could provide my kids with everyday classroom supplies to keep their focus on learning. I am requesting basic supplies, such as pencils, glue sticks, ink, stickers, dry erase markers, erasers, and Lysol cleaning wipes.
In our classroom we use pencils for writing stories and stickers to acknowledge writing accomplishments.
Dry erase markers are used for practicing math problems and spelling words. With colored ink I am able to print off math games to engage my students in cooperative games and activities during our morning math bins. We also need storage bags to keep our desks organized and to keep our books safe.
These supplies fuel our classroom, and having these tools will make our school day run much more smoothly. Lastly, I am also requesting math books to read aloud to my class, such as the book "Seeing Symmetry." My students are better able to understand mathematical topics through the use of introductory anchor texts.
