This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Incorporating poetry into my curriculum provides a holistic approach to education, helping students grow academically, emotionally, and socially. My 5th graders are second-language learners and from different cultural backgrounds. Poetry will help students play with language, explore new vocabulary, and experiment with different forms of expression. Exposing them to diverse literary devices will improve their reading, writing, and comprehension skills.

Hosting a Poetry Reading Night will foster creativity, boost confidence, and improve public speaking skills among my 5th grade students.

To make this event a success, we need a reliable wireless microphone, a speaker system, and a backdrop. These tools will ensure that every student's voice is heard, they move freely, and they express themselves fully.

With your support, we can create an environment where my students feel empowered to share their stories and ideas. This poetry reading will be a memorable experience that helps them develop as writers and confident public speakers. By providing the necessary equipment, we can ensure that every student’s voice is heard, making this Poetry Reading Night a truly inclusive and empowering event.
