Empowering Young Scientists: Growing Food & Generating Energy Naturally

Help me give my students authentic experiences in creating energy from natural resources and growing their own food.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Francis's classroom raised $1,067

My Project

Our sixth-grade students are eager to roll up their sleeves and explore how nature can power our lives! At our environmentally focused STEM school, students are learning firsthand about sustainability, renewable energy, and food energy systems.

With your help, we can provide them with the tools and materials to grow their own food and generate clean energy—transforming our classroom into a living laboratory for the future of our planet.

To bring this project to life, we’re requesting materials such as tabletop solar panels, small wind turbines, owl pellets (to study the energy pyramid) compost bins, indoor grow lights, soil kits, and seed-starting supplies. These resources will help students design and build working models of renewable energy sources while simultaneously learning to grow herbs, vegetables, and other edible plants indoors and outdoors.

This project bridges science, sustainability, and real-world problem-solving. Students will explore questions like:

How can we use the sun and wind to power our homes?

What does it take to grow healthy food in a sustainable way?

How can we reduce waste through composting and renewable systems?

By engaging in hands-on experiments, students will develop STEM skills and a deep respect for the environment. These experiences not only support our science curriculum but also empower students to become innovators and stewards of a greener future.

Your Impact:

Your donation will directly fund a classroom experience that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong connection to the Earth. You'll be helping us cultivate young minds ready to take on tomorrow’s environmental challenges—with confidence and creativity.

Thank you for helping us grow green thinkers and future leaders!
