Empowering Young Minds Through Literature

Help me give my students engaging novels that will enhance their reading skills and foster a love for literature in our ELA class.

My Project

I absolutely love my 6th-grade students' resilience, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning. Despite the challenges they face, including living in Section 8 housing and attending a Title 1 school, they show up eager to learn and grow every day. They inspire me with their determination to succeed and their ability to find joy in discovering new ideas.

The novels, I’m requesting, will be transformative for my students.

Having access to their own copies of high-quality, engaging literature will allow them to dive deeply into the stories, develop critical thinking skills, and improve their reading comprehension. These novels will also provide opportunities for meaningful discussions, helping my students connect with characters, explore diverse perspectives, and build empathy. With these resources, I can create rich, interactive lessons that make reading come alive for them.

My goal for this project is to not only improve my students' literacy skills but also to cultivate a lifelong love of reading. I want them to see books as windows to the world, offering insights and opportunities far beyond our classroom walls.

What makes my students truly special is their resilience and willingness to dream big, despite facing economic and social hardships. They deserve every opportunity to succeed, and with your support, we can give them the tools to turn their dreams into reality.
