This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The button maker and booklet stapler will empower students to create, not just for this project, but for future projects as well. By giving them the tools to physically produce their work—whether it’s booklets for writing assignments or custom buttons for school events—students gain hands-on experience that makes their learning interactive and meaningful. These tools will help bring their writing and artistic skills to life as they create pieces to share with their peers and the broader community.

At our new school, now in its second year, we have the basic supplies needed to support our students, but we lack the accumulated resources that other schools develop over time.

That’s why I’m seeking support for a button maker, booklet stapler, acrylic markers, paper cutter, and Day of the Dead decorations—items that will make a real difference in our students' learning.

One of our school’s signature events is our 2nd annual Day of the Dead celebration, and this project will play a significant role in that event. Students will create buttons, booklets, and other creative projects, including poetry and short stories around Day of the Dead themes. These activities will give them the opportunity to showcase their creativity, collaborate with their peers, and develop their self-expression. Beyond the immediate benefits, these resources will help foster school spirit and strengthen students' sense of agency in their school and community.

By creating these projects, students are not only learning but also sharing their personal and cultural expressions with their school community, helping to make the school a more inclusive and vibrant place.
