Empowering Voices, Healing Hearts

Help me give my students crayon and marker sets, plush toys, notebooks and other SEL materials to create a calming, inclusive space where they feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow emotionally and socially every day.

My Project

My scholars are brilliant, resilient, and full of potential. As black and brown youth navigating not only academic pressures but also the weight of generational and societal challenges such as loss, taking on the role of a parent for younger siblings, etc. they deserve a space where they can just be—seen, safe, and supported. This project will help me build that space. With emotion activities and visuals, students will learn to identify and name their feelings—an essential first step in emotional literacy. Fidgets like plushies and sensory tools will offer calming outlets for anxiety and over-stimulation, helping them stay grounded in moments of stress. Journals and reflection cards will invite quiet self-expression, while check-in charts will open the door to meaningful conversations.

The goal of this project is to create a trauma-informed, culturally affirming environment that supports social-emotional growth, builds coping skills, and strengthens emotional regulation.

More than just materials, these tools represent opportunities—for healing, connection, and joy. My scholars are not only capable—they are powerful. They just need the right tools and support to help them rise.
