This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My Sister's Keeper (MSK) is a New York City Department of Education initiative to promote gender equality and empower girls and young women in grades 4-12. We are currently exploring a unit entitled "A Healthy Me Inside and Out." As part of this initiative, the girls have been charged with creating an outward expression of themselves for all to see. What better way to do this than to Cricut their designs allowing our girls to truly show their creativity.
A positive self-image can boost our physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
We will use the shirts as the blank canvas for the girls to create their designs. They will use the various types of vinyl to choose phrases pictures and symbols to decorate their shirts. The Cricut press will be used to iron on their designs and create a permanent expression of creativity, love and self acceptance.
