This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are problem-solvers, innovators, and dreamers. They bring unique perspectives to every project and come from diverse backgrounds, with many facing financial challenges, yet they show a remarkable enthusiasm for tackling big ideas in engineering and technology. They thrive when given the opportunity to explore hands-on, real-world projects that spark their imaginations and build their confidence.
This project will empower students from underrepresented communities with access to cutting-edge technology, preparing them for future academic and career opportunities.
I am seeking to provide my students with a 3D printer, filament, and the tools necessary to set up and maintain the equipment. These resources will be transformative for their learning. The 3D printer will allow students to turn their designs into tangible objects, deepening their understanding of engineering concepts like prototyping, design iteration, and problem-solving. The filament will give them the chance to experiment with different materials, including sustainable options, which reinforces lessons on climate-conscious practices. The tools will ensure the printer remains in great condition and allow students to take ownership of maintaining the equipment—an invaluable lesson in responsibility and troubleshooting.
My goals for are to foster hands-on engagement with STEM by teaching students how to design and prototype real-world solutions. It is my hope to encourage sustainability by using eco-friendly materials and exploring how engineers can minimize environmental impact. In my classroom, I want to inspire innovation and creativity by challenging students to solve problems and design projects that reflect their unique perspectives and identities.
