This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a 3 Pre-Kindergarten teacher in a low-income public school in the Bronx. My class is filled with 15 vibrant, eager learners. My students needs are important for me. My students are bright and enthusiastic students ready to learn. My class is located in a low income area.

My students are bright and very dedicated students.

My students need real life experiences in order to make real life connections. I will like to provide that exposure for them. I want to get them ready for the future. I try to provide my students with whatever I can give them. Students tend to have embedded in their memory exciting experiences from school. I want my students to have multiple experiences of learning with the support of parents to build the home and family connection.

My Project

The materials that I am requesting will provide my students with the opportunities to learn while being empowered through art. The materials will allow my students to make hands-on activities related to their learning. Adding art activities in the lessons will engage students into the activities. When students are engaged, they become more interested in the lessons. I want my students to believe in themselves. The art materials can be used in all the subjects. The materials they need are felt, art tissue paper, pom-poms, pipe stems, washable watercolor, wiggly eyes, fabric sheets, markers, and many more art supplies. By providing my students with the tools that they need to become empowered through art, it will improve their confidence. My students will be able to create activities that will help them in writing, math manipulative, and reading.

My students feelings, needs, and achievement are very important for me. My students can make their work meaningful and important. Empowering Students Through Art is a way I know will help my students improve in their learning.
