Empowering Students Through Art; Math and Literacy
My students need art supplies such as tissue paper, modeling clay, paper center, magna building tiles, and design your own tote bags.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Mangin's classroom raised $481

My Students
My students are very eager to learn when I use hands-on materials. Unfortunately, common core curriculum does not allow much time for creativity. I would be able to use these materials while I meet in small instructional groups.
I have 25 kindergarten students who love to learn.
This class is a lovely group of kids who enjoy helping each other learn. My students mostly speak English, Arabic, and Spanish. They attend a kindergarten through fifth grade school.
My Project
I will use the modeling clay to help my struggling learners mold numbers and letters. For my advanced students I will use the clay to review sight words. They can also mold numbers and add them together. I will be doing a unit on recycling and we will talk about using reusable bags when they shop. I will have them decorate their bags so they can use them when they shop. I will use the tissue paper to create flowers in the Spring. I will be using the magna tiles to help teach the students about angles and sides. I feel the students will have a better understanding getting to explore with real shapes. I would use these in small groups to reinforce shapes or to extend my lesson.
These art materials will make learning fun again.
Last week one of my students said school is boring. This broke my heart and made me think about what I could do to make learning fun again for these kindergarten children. I will use these materials while I meet in small group instruction.
