My Students
"Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing." - Benjamin Franklin
My students love to express their creativity through their words. Their writing has improved so much since the first day of school. They love to display their works.
Our school houses almost twelve hundred students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
We are an underfunded, Title 1 school, in an inner city, where many ethnicities come together to learn and explore while speaking over forty languages! The students in my second grade class are a diverse bunch.
They live in a high poverty area and they all receive free breakfast and lunch. My class consists of students with very diverse educational needs. I have students who speak English as a second language and students who read anywhere from a kindergarten to a third grade level.
My Project
My students' work will POP! and brighten the halls of the second grade wing! My students love to display their creative writing pieces and love to broaden their writing with a colorful accent piece. I try to incorporate an artistic element to align with the writing sample.
"Empowering my students through art” means allowing student to use their creativity to express themselves in every subject. We will use the bright paper to design an aquarium for our unit of study on Sea Life. We love to use the reams of rainbow paper to demonstrate our mathematical problem solving skills to the visitors observing our work in the halls. Donations of brightly colored paper will enhance the beauty of their creativity and brilliantly enlighten the halls of our school.
My students will anxiously complete any assignment given when they realize that we will be publishing, designing, drawing and creating on the brilliant colored paper provided by generous donors like you!
Any time special materials are used for class projects, the children get excited and are ready to work. Your generosity will go a long way and will be greatly appreciated! Students will continue to shine while displaying their works of art throughout the halls of the 2nd grade wing!
