My Project
I am continually inspired by my students at our all-girls public Title I school in downtown Brooklyn. As an English as a New Language teacher, I serve a diverse group of students from the around the world. Many of my students are new to the country, bravely navigating a new language and culture while facing unique challenges. Their resilience and creativity shine through in every lesson.
The items I’m requesting—snacks, art supplies, stickers, and band-aids—will significantly enhance their learning experience and support their mental health.
Healthy snacks will provide energy, helping them focus better. Art supplies will offer a therapeutic outlet for self-expression, essential for their emotional well-being. Stickers can reward achievements and boost self-esteem, while band-aids symbolize care, reminding students that it’s okay to seek support.
My goal is to create a safe space where students feel valued and understood, fostering open conversations about mental health. This project aims to empower these brave young women to thrive academically and emotionally, promoting a culture of kindness, resilience, and wellness.
