This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 5th grade class has been struggling finding the joy of reading. It wasn't until we read Hatchet that my most reluctant readers became enthralled with reading. Students who could not read a page on their own were begging to read more than one chapter a day. I purchased a class set of 24 books with my own money and after reading Hatchet my readers are asking for the next book.
Books are essential tools for learning and providing students with access to them can help close the educational gap and increase their opportunities for success.
This donation can help create a love of reading, foster critical thinking skills, and provide a foundation for lifelong learning.
Donating to my class can also help to build a strong and educated community. An educated community is more likely to be self-sufficient, have better health outcomes, and contribute to the community.
By helping my class, you are not only making a difference in the lives of individual students but also in the future of the community as a whole. These books will be cherished and used for years to come.
