One game is designed for my students who are below grade level. It helps them remember the CVC pattern words by having them write the word with a dry-erase marker. They are given picture clues to figure out the word. The second thing I did was to make another set of my sight words. Sight word fluency is essential at this grade level. I use these cards with all my class since they have to know them by the end of the year. I also use them when our grade mixes with other students, and I have the second language learner class. The students take turns running the words to improve automaticity. The last game is for a specific standard that we teach in second grade. This game is a fun way to introduce the standard and reinforce it throughout the year. \r\nMy students enjoy our \"games center\" when I have small groups. It is a time when they learn to socialize and cooperate while playing games. It reinforces concepts that I have taught so far. They look forward to going to this center daily. Students got to see every single resource that was donated. My students were surprised to find out that all the supplies they had gotten were donated by people that they didn't know. They were surprised to find out that someone out there acted as their guardian of learning. They were super thankful to know that they were being supported by people who only wished them well and to succeed. Even more, the only thing they sought in return was to see how they would use the supplies and materials.\r\n\r\nSince then, my students have continued to use all of the materials that have not been used up and they take care of them well.
