it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The books and materials I’m requesting will make a huge difference in my students' learning by providing them with engaging, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant resources that reflect their lived experiences and open doors to new perspectives. A diverse selection of books will support literacy development by offering varied levels of reading, building vocabulary, and improving comprehension skills. These books will also foster a love for reading, making students more motivated to engage in their language studies outside of class time. With these resources, my students will be able to explore different genres, cultures, and themes, all while improving their Spanish fluency.
The goal of this project is to create a vibrant and welcoming classroom library that supports language acquisition, cultural exploration, and personal growth.
I aim to provide a range of books that allow students to explore literature in Spanish that resonates with them, helps develop critical thinking, and connects them to the Spanish-speaking world. Ultimately, I want to create a space where students feel empowered and excited to read, knowing that the books on the shelves represent their voices, values, and interests.
My students are special because they come from diverse backgrounds and bring unique perspectives to the classroom. Many of them are heritage speakers, meaning they have a deep connection to the language and culture, and their stories enrich our learning environment. They are curious, passionate, and eager to connect with the material in ways that are personal and meaningful to them. The diversity in our classroom fosters a rich supportive and collaborative environment where students learn from one another and are encouraged to embrace both their cultural identities and the Spanish language.
