Empowering Readers: Building a Diverse Classroom Library for Special Education

Help me give my students opportunities to read by purchasing books for our classroom library. I need your help to grow my classroom literacy program!

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Sorenson's classroom raised $286

My Project

The specific items I am requesting, which are books that cater to my special education students' reading abilities and interests, will have a profound impact on their learning. By providing books that align with their reading levels, my students will be able to engage with the text independently, promoting a sense of autonomy and building their confidence as readers. Additionally, when students have access to books that align with their interests, they are more likely to be motivated to read, leading to improved comprehension, vocabulary development, and overall literacy skills. These books will allow for differentiated instruction, as special education students often require tailored teaching to meet their unique learning needs.

With a variety of books at different reading levels, I can address their specific abilities and provide appropriate challenges.

Ultimately, my goal for this project is to provide my special education students with books that are accessible and engaging, allowing them to experience success in independent reading. By creating a classroom library that offers a wide variety of books at different reading levels, I aim to foster a love for reading among my students, encouraging them to become lifelong readers and learners. What makes my students special is their unique learning needs and abilities.

Each student in my special education class has their own strengths and challenges, and it is my goal to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that caters to their individual needs. By providing them with books that are specifically tailored to their abilities, I can help them overcome barriers and achieve success in their reading journey. My students' resilience, determination, and unique perspectives make them truly special, and I am committed to providing them with the resources they need to thrive.
