Many of them are drawn to stories that feel real — ones that explore love, loss, and the courage it takes to start over. Safe Haven offers all of that and more, sparking thoughtful discussions about trust, resilience, and personal growth.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading isn't just about finishing a book — it's about connection and discovery. Students gather in small groups to share favorite passages, make predictions, and explore how characters' choices mirror real-life challenges. We also use writing prompts and creative responses, such as journal entries from a character's perspective, to help students build empathy and analytical thinking.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who weren't typically enthusiastic readers have truly connected with this story. One student mentioned that it was the first book she couldn't put down — she saw herself in the main character's strength and transformation. Others have been inspired to check out more novels by Nicholas Sparks, deepening their love for reading and storytelling.\r\n\r\nThanks to your donation, reading time in our classroom has become more personal, engaging, and inspiring. You've helped open doors for students to explore emotions, relationships, and resilience through literature — and that's a gift that will stay with them long after the final page.","fullyFundedDate":1734182461838,"projectUrl":"project/donate-to-provide-the-book-safe-haven-fo/8953513/","projectTitle":"Donate to Provide the Book Safe Haven for Our Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sorenson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9088601_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1734196173601","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9088601"},{"teacherId":9088601,"projectId":9067775,"letterContent":"The new cameras have completely transformed the way my students learn in our Commercial Photography and art classes. Many of our students are familiar with using phones or tablets for pictures, but learning how to properly use professional cameras has opened a whole new level of understanding about light, composition, and storytelling. This technology allows them to practice real-world skills, apply classroom concepts, and see their creative ideas come to life in ways that weren't possible before.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most about these cameras is the independence they give them. Students love being able to adjust shutter speed, aperture, and ISO themselves and then immediately see how their choices change the image. The instant feedback sparks curiosity and problem-solving—students are eager to experiment, compare results, and push their creativity. Even those who were hesitant at first now ask to check out cameras to practice outside of class.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular has completely blossomed with this new technology. At the beginning of the year, she wasn't sure if photography was \"her thing,\" but after using the cameras to capture sports events and portraits, she has found a passion and a confidence she didn't know she had. Her work has improved tremendously, and she has even started talking about pursuing photography as part of her career path. These moments are exactly why this donation matters so much—it gives students opportunities to discover new skills, passions, and futures.","fullyFundedDate":1746786077636,"projectUrl":"project/capturing-creativity-cameras-for-tomorr/9067775/","projectTitle":"Capturing Creativity: Cameras for Tomorrow's Photographers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sorenson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9088601_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1734196173601","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9088601"},{"teacherId":9088601,"projectId":8954948,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my students now have the art supplies they need to dive into their next project!
