Instead of just talking about the weather, students are actually measuring it. They're collecting real data on temperature, air pressure, humidity, and wind, and then using that information in their own weather reports. The technology and materials have made lessons more hands-on and meaningful. They aren't just learning about meteorology — they're doing meteorology. The most exciting part for them has been using the real equipment. There's something about holding the tools and gathering their own data that makes it feel official. \r\n\r\nAnother exciting addition to our class has been using the supplies to prepare and record our own weather reports. Students gather and analyze their data, compare it to radar and satellite images, write forecasts, and then film themselves presenting just like professional meteorologists. They take so much pride in getting the details right and speaking with confidence on camera. It's been amazing to watch them connect the measurements they collect to real-world communication skills.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my students. These new books have introduced a wide range of literacy skills, including building vocabulary, improving comprehension, identifying main ideas and themes, and making text-to-self and text-to-world connections. Students are also practicing critical thinking by discussing characters' choices, comparing perspectives, and reflecting on how stories relate to their own lives and experiences.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom looks different for every learner, and that's exactly what makes it successful. Students read independently, in small groups, and alongside a teacher or aide when needed. Some students listen to text while following along visually, while others prefer to annotate, sketch, or discuss what they've read. The books are available throughout the day, allowing students to choose texts that match their interests, reading levels, and learning styles.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously reluctant readers are now some of the most excited participants. A few of my students with learning differences or reading challenges have especially benefited from having books they feel confident accessing. Seeing themselves reflected in the stories, or finding topics they are genuinely interested in, has helped them build confidence and a sense of pride in their reading. Other students have enjoyed sharing favorite passages, recommending books to peers, and even asking for more time to read.\r\n\r\nYour donation has done more than provide books. It has helped create a classroom culture where reading feels safe, enjoyable, and empowering.
