This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I am the coach of a Title I district where we do not even have soccer goals on our field. I would like help empowering my kids through soccer as sports can teach a person a lot about themselves as well as create opportunities for future success. Life lessons are learned, characteristics are developed and empowered through the teamwork aspect of soccer. Soccer is a beautiful sport that is world-renown and celebrated throughout all cultures as we have a diverse student body here at the school. We are requesting Portable Soccer Goals, Medicine Balls, Shin Guards and more.

I believe getting kids to work together towards a common goal while having fun will help them come out of their shells and develop a stronger sense of self.

A lot of the kids who have come out for the soccer team in the past have never ever kicked a ball before, but I have been able to create a program that allows any person willing to try to become not only a good soccer player, but a more confident person in who they are where they can see themselves succeed when trying new things. My goal is to create a family for these kids where they are supported and know when things get tough there is a team of people that have their back. To collaborate, empower and build character while most importantly having fun!

What makes my kids special is their hearts and resolve. These kids come from rough environments and situations, but always have a smile on their face and showing kindness to those around them. They have made me a better person as their coach and I am thankful to have such a group of kids in my school. Coaching is a privilege and I would love to be able to give them a great soccer experience!
