Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a middle school ELA teacher in California, I have the privilege of working with a diverse group of newcomer students—many of whom are recent immigrants learning English for the first time.

Newcomer students bring rich cultural experiences and a strong desire to succeed, but often face significant barriers in accessing the tools they need for academic success.

My goal is to create an ELA classroom that is inclusive, supportive, and equipped to meet their unique needs. To do this, I am requesting essential supplies specifically designed to support language acquisition, literacy development, and engagement in reading and writing.

The materials I’m requesting include teaching materials like lesson plans & worksheets, personal whiteboards, and colorful writing tools to support structured writing activities. These resources will help students develop their vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing fluency—foundational skills for success in ELA and across the curriculum. By providing access to engaging texts and writing materials, I can better support differentiated instruction, interactive reading strategies, and meaningful writing projects that build both language skills and confidence.

Your support will help transform my ELA classroom into a literacy-rich environment where newcomer students feel safe, empowered, and excited to learn. These supplies will allow them to participate fully in lessons, express their ideas, and grow as readers and writers.
