This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Coming from many countries, this ELL classroom is a quilt, or as I call them, my special version of The United Nations in a teaching space. All my students bring their unique contribution by sharing their culture with one another. I know how important it is that we all keep growing in our learning of the English language and culture in this new country that is embracing us. It crucial to remind, reinforce and work on our common goal of improving our English proficiency. While we have wonderful resources, we can enhance our tools with a color printer and some extra materials. Pictures are more appealing and say more than words. The color printer provides the opportunity to use lively colors and helps teach students who struggle ten times more than a native speaker learning the same material.

This is how I envision the benefits I will obtain with these resources.

The printer will provide tangible materials in a faster way, using color pictures allusive to the topic we are covering. It also allows me to easily print out educational resources, enabling a hands-on approach to language acquisition. The printer becomes a valuable tool for engagement and promoting a more dynamic ESL learning experience. The books, manipulative resources and picture cards cater to the linguistic background of ESL students. These materials facilitate a personalized learning experience and bring the ELL students closer to the native speakers’ world.

In conclusion, the ESL resources in the classroom place my students at a whole different level of opportunities. These supplies, the printer and the additional resources contribute significantly to their academic success, cultural inclusivity, and overall development. By addressing the personalized needs of the ELL students, ESL resources create a rich and supportive learning environment that prepares them for success socially and academically.
