Working as a School Psychologist, I am often called upon to support students, teachers and parents of children who are exhibiting "melting down" behaviors and may be identified as disruptive, aggressive, or “behavior problems”. These behaviors are often because students don’t understand what’s going on around them or may not have awareness or understanding of how to play, learn, work in groups with their peers or regulate their emotions. By being provided with high quality instructional resources, these students will gain access to a variety of tools to meet their individual needs.
The Teachers Pay Teachers (tpt) gift card will be used to access templates and visuals to enhance understanding of social emotional topics and vocabulary.
The CBT Therapeutic Game, the Self Regulation Workbook and Emotional Regulation Workbook for Kids will be used to target specific skill areas that may be underdeveloped and will help to enhance individual student treatment plans.
The Little Spot of Emotion boxset and accompanying plushies, Lego DUPLOS, Moods and Emotions Poster Pack and Exploring Emotions cards will help to provide students with visual and hands on opportunities to strengthen their understanding of social emotional vocabulary and skills.
My goal for this project is to provide increased access social emotional learning opportunities to ALL students as well as access to mental health support. There are so many strengths and unique qualities that the students I support have. Seeing them display pride and a sense of accomplishment when they make progress and generalize skills is one of many things that make them a special group!
