This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a sixth-grade teacher and Cultural Arts Coordinator at my school, I wear many hats—but all of them have one goal: to inspire, uplift, and open new worlds for my students. For over a decade, I’ve been using the same laptop to create lessons, communicate with families, plan field trips, and organize cultural events. That laptop has served me well, but after 12 long years, it’s barely holding on. It runs slowly, crashes often, and makes even the most basic tasks feel like a marathon. I am now in urgent need of a reliable tool that can keep up with the demands of modern teaching and leadership.

A computer would be a game-changer—not just for me, but for the hundreds of students I serve each year.

With this technology, I’ll be able to design dynamic and interactive lesson plans that engage students in reading, writing, science, and math. I can create slide decks, videos, and digital content that meet the diverse needs of my learners and bring lessons to life. It will also help me model tech skills that my students will need for their future careers, particularly as many of them don’t have access to high-end technology at home.

A new computer would also allow me to stay organized and creative in my role as Cultural Arts Coordinator—where I plan field trips, partner with local arts organizations, create flyers and permission slips, and share student experiences with our families.
