My Project
In my dedicated journey as an educator, my heart swells with admiration for the unique and vibrant students who fill my classroom daily. Their curiosity, resilience, and individuality inspire me to strive for excellence in providing them with the best possible educational experience. To further enrich their learning environment, I am seeking 100 copies of the novel, Dear Martin, that I believe will have a transformative impact on their educational journey.
In an effort to support students' identities and cultural backgrounds, this project aims to provide them with a class set of the novel Dear Martin by Nic Stone.
This novel has been praised for its representation of underrepresented communities. It is one of my firm beliefs that to create and inspire a love of reading, students must see themselves represented in the texts they read.
"Dear Martin" is a powerful exploration of racial injustice and systemic discrimination, topics that are integral to the fabric of our society. Public schools serve as platforms for shaping informed and empathetic citizens, and exposing students to narratives that tackle real-world challenges fosters a deeper understanding of social justice issues. The novel's themes encourage thoughtful reflection on racism, privilege, and the quest for justice, promoting essential conversations within the school community.
