My Project

To enhance my professional development and improve instructional strategies for all students, including those with IEPs and 504 plans, I am seeking funding for an Apple iPad. This device will enable me to access advanced planning tools, develop differentiated instructional materials, and incorporate technology-driven engagement strategies, including Racial Justice & Representation, to meet the diverse needs of my students.

Purpose and Need

As a high school English teacher in Baltimore City, I am committed to continuous learning and instructional improvement. An iPad would allow me to:

• Access online professional development courses, webinars, and instructional resources.

• Enhance lesson planning through digital note-taking and organization tools.

• Implement accessibility features to better support students with 504 and IEP accommodations.

• Utilize digital tools for real-time student feedback, engagement, and assessment.

How an iPad Supports Professional Development

1. PD Access & Research:

• Attend virtual workshops and webinars via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet.

• Access teaching podcasts, journals, and research to stay updated on best practices in literacy instruction.

2. Lesson Planning & Instructional Design:

• Use GoodNotes, OneNote, and Notability to create, annotate, and organize lesson plans efficiently.

• Develop interactive presentations and multimedia content to support diverse learners.

3. Supporting 504 and Diverse Learners:

• Differentiate instruction using digital whiteboards (Explain Everything), audio recording (GarageBand), and e-books.

4. Student Engagement & Feedback:

• Leverage apps like Kahoot!, Nearpod, and Flipgrid to create interactive discussions and assessments.

• Provide real-time feedback through digital annotation tools and collaborative documents.

• Enhance writing instruction with Grammarly, Google Docs, and peer review tools.
