This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our inner-city elementary school, nestled in the heart of a bustling metropolis, is a beacon of hope and learning for students from kindergarten to fifth grade. However, despite our best efforts, we face a significant challenge: the absence of a gymnasium. With 63% of our families classified as low-income, our resources are stretched thin, leaving us unable to provide our students with the same opportunities as their peers in more affluent neighborhoods.

Without a proper gym, our students are deprived of the chance to engage in sports and physical activities like basketball, a beloved pastime for many.

Instead, they must make do with cramped spaces in our small cafeteria or a patch of concrete outdoors when weather permits. This inequity is stark and unacceptable.

We believe that every child deserves access to the benefits of sports and physical activity, regardless of their socioeconomic background or the resources available to them. That's why we are launching an appeal for donations to install two basketball hoops at our school. These hoops will not only provide our students with a space to play and exercise but also promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and overall well-being.

Your support can make a world of difference in the lives of these children. By donating to our cause, you are not just providing basketball hoops; you are opening doors of opportunity and empowerment for our students.
