My Project
My students are bright, curious, and full of potential. They come to school every day ready to learn, grow, and tackle new challenges—despite facing significant obstacles outside the classroom. Many of them come from underserved communities, and for most, access to technology at home is extremely limited or nonexistent.
As a civics teacher, I believe deeply in the power of education to shape not only academic success but also responsible, informed citizenship.
In my classroom, we explore how government works, why voting matters, and how young people can make a difference in their communities. But to fully engage with current events, credible sources, and interactive civic learning platforms, my students need access to modern tools.
That’s why I’m requesting tablets and a charging station for our classroom.
With these devices, my students will be able to:
- Research current events and government policies from reliable sources.
- Engage with interactive civics apps and simulations (like virtual elections or court cases).
- Create digital presentations and participate in collaborative civic projects.
- Build critical digital literacy skills needed to navigate today’s information landscape.
- A charging station will ensure these devices are always charged, organized, and ready for daily use.
This technology will give my students the tools they need to not just succeed in school—but to become the thoughtful, informed, and engaged citizens our democracy needs.
