Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are English language learners from Latin America and the Middle East. Some have had interrupted schooling, yet they show incredible motivation to learn. Their diverse backgrounds, experiences, and eagerness to participate make them truly special, and I want to provide them with the tools they need to succeed.
The resources I’m requesting—Scholastic decodable nonfiction books, and word family readers—are designed to build vocabulary and literacy skills in a way that is accessible to students who are learning English.
These materials will also provide essential background knowledge to help them better understand the world around them and can be used in small-group instruction. The Lakeshore Classic Tabletop Writing Center and a magnetic whiteboard will create interactive, hands-on opportunities for independent writing practice, which is crucial in language development. Incentives like stickers, pencils, and sensory toys will help motivate students and keep them excited about coming to school and learning. The tissues will also support their well-being, especially during winter.
My goal for this project is to create a supportive, resource-rich environment where my students can build confidence in their English language abilities while feeling valued and encouraged. These materials will make a lasting difference, helping them become stronger readers, writers, and thinkers.
