My Project

Funding for these tools will significantly enhance the Advanced Placement Environmental Science (APES) curriculum offered at NGHS. Our school's environmental leadership Pathway is geared toward students passionate about becoming future leaders, thinkers, and changemakers for environmental protection. Integrating the LaMotte SMART3 Electronic Water Lab into our coursework will provide these motivated students with unparalleled opportunities to deepen their understanding of water quality analysis and environmental science.

Students will conduct a wide range of water tests, including pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, and turbidity measurements, allowing exploration of intricate relationships between water quality parameters and environmental health.

These are part of the Environmental Science curriculum, which emphasizes hands-on experimentation and real-world applications to reinforce key concepts; with the SMART3 system, students will engage in authentic, inquiry-based learning experiences that align seamlessly with APES standards.

Furthermore, the SMART3 system will enable students to investigate local water sources, such as rivers, lakes, and streams, providing valuable insights into ecosystem health. By collecting and analyzing real-time data, students develop critical thinking skills, evaluate the impacts of human activities on water quality, and propose evidence-based solutions for environmental conservation and restoration.

Beyond academic enrichment, these tools for success will also foster leadership development and community engagement within our pathway. Students will collaborate with local environmental organizations, conduct outreach events, and advocate for sustainable water management practices. Empowering students to participate in environmental stewardship actively cultivates environmentally-conscious citizens equipped to address complex challenges facing our planet. Together, we inspire and empower future generations to make a positive impact on our world.
